So, they have this room and a second one attached to it. The second room looked to still be blocked off for visitors, but they took their meal back there for some privacy. They also have an Outdoor enclosure that is larger.

Yes, the painted mountains really stood out to me as well! I think because they are not actually at all necessary, that it makes them even more special. Like the zoo had no need to do that, so the fact that they did just really shows the care and commitment put into the space, if that makes sense.

. Also, I’m glad they have an outdoor enclosure! I’ve mostly seen videos where they live in this indoor one, and while it is cool lookin it’d be kind of sad if they never went outside or engaged in a more nature-filled environment

Hi all! I recently emailed the zoo after seeing that Sofiya, Boris, Vera, and Igor (cats who were born there in 2007) did not have listed parents on here. They quickly responded telling me that their manager in that regard was busy and would get back to me later, but they also gave me the names of the parents! Marina being the mother and Yuri being the father. I’m going to assume Yuri was either transferred from Russia or has a parent from there, though I feel like we’d know more on him if he were born there. Anyway, I’ll post more information if I get any! Best

We’ve added these family connections to the website as well as the data we already had about these manuls.
Here are the pages of Yuri and Marina (the only thing missing are photos — we would be very grateful for any help in finding these archival pictures!).
And look: through the line of the father of the legendary Petenka we now have the entire pedigree traced all the way back to the manuls that came from the wild!

Unfortunately, I did not take any pictures of their outdoor exhibit. I will try and get some next time I visit. I did find this picture from 2017. I believe it was used to house several different species.

The Cincinnati Zoo posted on their X account that Mikhail (I think from the Hemker Park and Zoo) is now at their zoo. They are attempting to get him to breed is Isabel. I will try to go there soon and get some pictures of Him. It seems like they have repurposed one of the other habitats in order to accommodate him.
