There is currently only Akiko at the zoo however I was talking with the zookeepers and they are planning on getting him a wife soon. There may be some baby manul here in the near future

I met Akiko in August when he was still at Banham Zoo! He had just been with the vet, and in retrospect I guess they were checking his health before his move to Edinburgh.
I’m glad he’ll have somewhere to start his own family now.

Had my first visit of the year just yesterday, Akiko seems to be enjoying the snow here, even if he only showed his face 20 minutes before the zoo closed so I barely got to see him

I miss him! I hope he is settling into his new home well. He used to nap in a hammock high up in his enclosure at Banham – I hope there’s a good napping spot in Edinburgh!
You know, Edinburgh is easily the most accessible manul zoo in the UK, maybe it would make a good Manulization Field Trip…

Hey, few days ago u/Strayl1ght on Reddit made some investigation about a pic, and as a side effect, uncovered a piece of info about Edinburgh zoo, this archived article mentions the manuls living in Edinburgh zoo, names them as the male Kagan and female Dunja, who had a litter of 4 in 2007, which coincides with the birth of Hurst, Frida and Alula (possible previously unknown 4th sibling?), which would make them siblings.

We can confirm: based on our records, they are indeed siblings, born to the manuls Dunja (Дуня) and Kagan (Каган).
The fourth sister from this litter is Pallu from Opole Zoo.
We have updated the website with this information, adding a few more dates and details as well.

Wow, looking at their family trees now… Dunja and Kagan have soooo many wonderful manul descendants around the world today!! I’m so glad we know about these fantastic manul ancestors now.
