First of all, thank you @manulization for the amazing website!
And also, thank you for the detailed information about the fifth manul kid born in 2024 here. I didn’t know it was a boy.

This is so devastating… I thought these babies were past the age where something like this could happen. She was always so active and playful it’s so sad. I hope the zookeepers are doing okay with this, and the other members of the manul family are also.

Однажды мы спрашивали у зоологов в Новосибирском зоопарке, до какого возраста самый уязвимый период у манулов? Они ответили, что до года. А в Московском зоопарке нам ответили, что самый «опасный» период до двух лет :slightly_frowning_face:

Oh no!! That’s so crushing, I loved her so much! She was so beautiful, with such a lovable attitude. I’m glad that Oto, Mei and Nagomu seem to be recovering, and I wish I could send my love to the staff at Kobe Animal Kingdom. I will always love and remember Teru

I was planning on learning how to tell them apart, now that their face markings were likely going to remain the same until adulthood… The news of Teru’s passing made me tear up, for real. We lost many manuls from the 2024 generation (especially Nordens Ark’s minuls :broken_heart:), and it’s old news that their immune systems are fragile, but it never gets easier…

Poor Teru :broken_heart: she was such a beautiful girl and will be deeply missed. :disappointed_relieved:

This is the first time that the manul who I’ve met in person passes away :sob:
Rest in peace, lovely Teru  :rainbow:

I wish so much I could have met her! This has really brought home to me that I have to visit my favourite manuls as soon as possible because you never know what’s going to happen.

I’m glad Teru had fans like you visiting her, @maeko_manul, she deserved all the love in the world

We know your feelings! Several manuls we had met passed away and every time we were so sad :frowning:

Thank you.
Teru’s passing away let me know again how vulnerable manuls are :sob:
I heard Mei, Oto and Nagomu had recovered and doing well now, so I hope they’ll stay healthy and live long

About this boy.

I inquired the zoo the other day and the zoo staff unofficially admitted that the photo in this post is of this boy.

And the staff permitted (also unofficially) me to post this photo to the boy’s profile page here.
So I’ll do it.

By the way, I decided to call him “Kokoro-kun”.
At first, I thought of calling him “Heart-kun” because he’s surrounded by hearts in this postcard.

But if so, his name would be out of the rule of his siblings’ names that the name is in Japanese and can be expressed in one Chinese character each.

So I thought “Kokoro-kun” would be better.
Kokoro means heart in Japanese.
And it’s “心” in a Chinese character.
