Mysterious manul subspecies?! "Bulgus"

(I thought this is not a serious topic about manul subspecies, so I post this as a new thread)

Two years ago, I happened to see this video.

It’s just a slide show of verious manuls, and looked like the poster meant to celebrate the International Manul Day in a humorous way.
Then I searched the word “Bulgus” and found this page.

It says:

Bulgus (species)

Origins and Biology

Bulguses (Bulgusi stungos) probably come from mongolian steppes in Asia and, to todays knowledge, are not closely related to any other species on Earth, as they lack comically large ears. Despite this their ears are very special because they are comically low on their heads.

And so on

Maybe Hungarian people “found” this “mysterious manul subspecies” Bulgus?!

Anyone heard of it?

As far as I remember, some caracal fans started to call them floppa as a joke because of their ears. From the wiki you shared, I can now see they had their own fictional meme lore/universe going on, where servals are known as sogga and manuls are known as bulgus… This is hilarious!

I remember coming across some “bulgus” images in the past, but I never really looked into the term. Thanks for the find!
