I learned in this site that Melissa had another name at first. I searched “Charybdis” and found the images of the terrible monster

I used to watch the livestream of the kittens earlier in the year – it was thrilling! If only we could sponsor livestreams for more zoos…

Yep, all kittens from that litter were named after deities from Greek mythology originally, but some of them changed their names when they came to other zoos 
We find it super cool that some zoos are taking naming seriously and creative and name kittens in a litter by some pattern or … idea. We have a ”cheese” litter, a lot of ”mountain’ litters and a ”mythology’ litter for instance Me and Vika are really enjoy finding these patterns.
Actually this particular Greek pattern helped us a lot because we noticed that Calypso and Polly (Polyphemus) look alike and have similar names and we started to dig into it and found that they are sisters

Nordens Ark’s livestream was a revolutionary thing IMO! I’ve never seen THIS level of courage and openness from a zoo! Really respect that!

And the way they did it was amazing – they had so many cameras, and with the night vision cameras you could really see everything! I was very impressed, it must have been so difficult to keep those streams running and look after all the animals simultaneously.
I hope the manul stream will return some time (but of course all their other animal streams are interesting!).

Yea, I really hope that they will continue to run streamings like that. They weren’t super popular though but for real fans they meant a lot!

I loved the livestream. I understand why they stopped it, but I really do wish that we could see the minuls again. And all grown up now!

This is such sad news! My condolences to all the staff there, they’ve worked incredibly hard and this must be a very tough time for them.

These years are of really bitterness to Nordens Ark’s manuls. We lost many of them: Bjorna, Borsika, Calypso, Thomas, and now Loesje. 
May Polly, Melissa and their nieces and nephews BE ALWAYS WELL.
